Caylee's grandparents, George and Cindy, have confrontations with the media, while uncle Lee is denied a scheduled jail visit by Caylee's mother, Casey.

Missing three-year-old Caylee Anthony’s grandfather, George Anthony, has been amenable to speaking with the press during the initial weeks of his granddaughter’s disappearance. Yet, on Friday, just prior to another round of investigators removing evidence from the Anthony home, George Anthony lost his normally cool demeanor, verbally attacking the media.

Caylee Anthony went missing on or about June 15, 2008, when her 22-year-old mother, Casey Anthony claims she dropped Caylee off with a babysitter and has not seen her since. Facts about the supposed babysitter are ambiguous and Casey Anthony was subsequently arrested and is suspected as possibly having a role in Caylee’s disappearance.

George Anthony Cracks Under Pressure

As George Anthony stood in his driveway, his home surrounded by a barrage of press, he yelled out to them that he did not want to talk and told them to leave him alone. “You people have no idea what we’re going through!” he shouted. George told his wife, Cindy Anthony to get inside the house as she tried to calm him down, but her efforts to allay his tensions were fruitless. George decided to leave the scene by getting in his car and speeding away while his wife and reporters looked on.

Cindy Explains George’s Frustration

After George’s exit, Cindy approached the press and pleaded with them to understand that her whole family was currently very emotional. She stated the tough exterior put on by her family for the public was the method in which she and her family were coping with the awful situation of not knowing where their granddaughter could be. Cindy stated, “We’re falling apart…You know, we’re all grieving in different ways.” She indicated that her husband George is very angry because he feels so helpless since he hasn’t been able to find their granddaughter, Caylee. “People feel helpless, they get angry about the situation,” Cindy remarked.

Improper Word Choice

Some have questioned why Cindy Anthony used the word “grieving” in her statement, because she and her family continually insist they will find Caylee alive and well. They commented all last week that Caylee would be home on her birthday, August 9—an assurance they received from Caylee’s mother Casey. Sadly, there was still no sign or news regarding Caylee on her third birthday and she remains missing.

Lee Anthony Refused Jail Visit

Also on Friday, Casey’s brother, Lee, had planned to visit her in jail. He spoke to the press before entering the facility and was questioned by them as to whether he believed his sister Casey was telling the truth regarding Caylee and the situation surrounding her disappearance. Lee proclaimed that he believed Casey was telling the truth to the best of her ability. Lee’s visit with Casey never took place, as at the last minute, Casey refused to see her brother for their scheduled visit.
